Judge Invalidates Patent for a Down Syndrome Test

A patent for a blood test which analyzes blood from pregnant women to check for Down syndrome is invalid.  Judge Susan Illston of the United States District Court in Northern California  ruled the blood test was invalid because it covers "natural phenomenon."  For more information see the article in the New York Times.
